The heart of Zoe’s work is collaboration. Whether as part of the House of Presents or working on Festivals, Events and Workshops, there’s always something cooking.
Drag Saves Lives
In July 2018 I co-taught a 5 day drag workshop for teens in Essen, alongside the fabulous Pansy and Gieza Poke. We were invited by the #nofear project as part of the Ruhr Triennale and worked with 7 young performers between the ages of 15-17. Together we explored stage presence and performance technique, different expressions of queerness, the history of Drag as an art form, and created a new drag persona with each of our participants. By the end of the week we had brought 7 new Drag Children into the world and introduced them to the stage in their very own drag show! Check out the podcast episode below, featuring interviews by some of the participants.
Drag Queen Story Hour
In January 2020 I had the honor of reading in my first ever Drag Queen Story Hour in the Spandau Public Library! With a class of second grade students, we read books about the courage to stand up to bullies, about how our parent’s expectations can be difficult when we’re growing up. We talked about our favorite costumes, and about what drag is and why it’s a beautiful thing! We played games, danced and drew rainbows. I am overjoyed that today’s kids get to grow up with this kind of education, and I can’t wait to be back and read some more!
Melt Festival
Every since 2015 the House of Presents brings shows, GoGo dancing and walking acts to Melt Festival! Since 2018 we have had our own stage, Pansy’s Playhouse where we book our favorite Berlin DJs and live acts to perform alongside our killer Drag shows. See our killer opening show for Fever Ray below to get a taste! We can’t wait to be back.
Pansy’s Tea Party
In collaboration with the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Pansy and the House of Presents produced a magical day long Alice in Wonderland event with a tea party, walking acts, kind’s entertainment and a full length show in the evening.
Fusion Festival
Since 2019 I have been part of the Cloud Cuckoo Hangar team at Fusion Festival where we build a magical queer experience for all 5 days of the festival. We build decorations, manage the space, book live acts, DJs and Drag Queens, host Karaoke parties and keep the drinks flowing.
